Improved Metered usage file processing capabilities

AppDirect now allows the metered usage file data to be uploaded in standard and custom formats through the UI. The improved usage file processing supports processing millions of records per hour without overstretching the existing pipeline.

The custom format allows you to upload customized usage data and map it to appropriate subscription and pricing plans and apply rating logic to the incoming data using the custom usage reader.

Using the custom usage reader and rating system, data can be sent from one system to another for processing (typically a billing platform). Processing can involve rating, paying, or simply passing the data on after some modifications.The file types allowed are JSON and CSV.

This enhancement also allows you to markup or markdown the rate for a usage event based on event field value if a custom usage reader is set up.

The custom metered usage file upload feature is available if the Allow custom metered usage option is enabled at the product level.
